Staff Selection Commission holds a combined Preliminary Examination in the month of February for selecting candidates for the Main Examinations for the following recruitments: A. Assistants Grade, (Group ‘B’ Non-Gazetted) for the groups of services/offices like AFHQ, CSS, Railway Board, IFS(B) and Posts in offices like Research Designs and Standards Organisation, Central Vigilance Commission, etc.
Exam
1. Assistants in Ministries/Departments, Attached and Subordinate office
of the Government of India
2. Inspectors of Central Excise & Customs
3. Inspectors of Income Tax
4. Preventive Officers in Customs
5. Examiner in Customs
6. Sub-Inspectors in Delhi Police & CBI
7. Sub-Inspectors in BSF, CRPF, ITBP and CISF
8. Divisional Accountant, Jr. Accountant, Auditor & UDCs in various
offices of Government of India
Eligibility
Candidate's age must lie between (a) 20 to 27 years for Assistant Grade
& SIs in CBI (b) 18 to 27 years for inspectors of CE/IT & Div.
Acctts/Auditors/UDCs, etc., (c) 20 to 25 years for SIs in CPOs on the
first day of the August of the year of Examination.
The upper age limit may be relaxed in respect of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes and such other categories of person as may, from time to time, notified in the behalf by the Government of India to the extent and subject to the conditions notified in respect of each categories.
Educational Qualification:
Degree of a recognized University or equivalent.

The notification for Preliminary Examination is published in the Employment
News/Rozgar Sangrah in the month of October. The candidates may utilise
in original the Form published in ‘Employment News’ or use
printed Application Form, if available from private agencies, as long
as the format of Application Form is exactly the same as published in
the advertisement.
