The Office of The Surgeon General of Maharashtra state was seperated on 1st May 1970, into two independent directorates namely The Directorate of Medical Education and Research & The Directorate of Health Services.

Directorate of Medical Education and Research supervises the working of 42 institutions including Medical and Dental Colleges, Teaching Hospitals and Health Units under its purview in order to achieve optimum academic standards.Promotion of research in instituitions is encourages. Despite existing financial constraints, efforts are made to provide maximum facilities required for students' education(Under Graduate, Post Graduate, Super Specialities), hospital services and research.


Eligibility Details:

1. A candidate must be an Indian National.

2. Candidates who have passed final M.B.B.S. examination and completed one year internship training from a recognized medical college included in the Schedule of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 and situated in Maharashtra, affiliated to Non- Agricultural Universities established under Maharashtra Universities Act, 1994 or the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences Act, 1998 and who have obtained permanent registration either from the Medical Council of India or Maharashtra Medical Council (MMC) will be eligible to appear for PGM-CET 2010 subject to fulfillment of following conditions.

2.1. For candidates who have passed final MBBS from Government/Corporation Medical Colleges:-

a) Candidates who have passed final MBBS before November/December 2004 and completed internship are eligible.
b) As per Government Resolution No.MED-1006/CR-5/06/Edu-2 dated 31/7/2006, the candidates who have passed final MBBS exam in November/December 2004 from Government / Municipal Corporation Medical Colleges and completed internship and (i) have completed minimum 4 months of Government Service OR (ii) have paid stipulated bond amount to Government.
c) Candidates who have passed final MBBS after November/December 2004 and completed internship by end of September/October, 2006 should have served the Government/Corporation for one year OR have paid the stipulated bond amount to the Government.


Resolution dated July 2010, then in that event, such candidate will have to FIRST complete 1 year Govt. service and then appear at the next PGM-CET 2009.


2.2. The candidates who have passed final MBBS examination from Private Medical Colleges and completed / completing internship by 31st March 2010 are eligible.

2.3. Eligibility for In-service candidates will be as per criteria laid down by the Public Health Department for M.M. & H.S. Medical Officer candidates and E.S.I.S. candidates; and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation for BMC candidates.

3. The candidates who are domiciled in Maharashtra and who have obtained admission under 15% quota for All India Entrance Examination (AIEE) for MBBS course and who have obtained the degree from a University situated outside the State of Maharashtra will also be eligible for PGM-CET-2008. Such candidates should submit (i) certificate from the Dean of respective medical college stating that the candidate was admitted under 15% AIEE quota for MBBS course, and (ii) certificate of Domicile of Maharashtra.

4. Those candidates who have passed the Final MBBS Examination from conventional non Agricultural Universities of Maharashtra /MUHS, Nashik will be eligible to appear for PGM-CET-2010.

5. The candidate who has obtained MBBS degree from Deemed University is not eligible to appear for PGM-CET-2010.

Date of Receiving of Admit Cards from DMER Office: First week of 06/10
Date of Examination (Center Mumbai): Mid of 06/10
Declaration of Result By: Last week of 06/10.
Declaration of Merit List: Second week of 07/10.

Procedure for Applying for MHT-CET, 2010

You can get admitted to any Government, Government aided or Municipal Corporation Colleges by taking this test.
The Director, Medical Education and Research (DMER), Mumbai regulates admission to any Medical program.
You can collect the information brochure and the application form from the school or Junior College, where you appeared for your Class 12 exam. You need to submit the filled-in application form within this time period.
If you have passed Class 12 exam from outside Maharashtra, you will get the forms from the office of Divisional authority in your locality.
You can buy the form and 3 MHT-CET-2009 brochures at a cost of Rs 900. The amount is Rs 700 for applicants of reserved category in Maharashtra.
