JOINT ENTRANCE TEST (JET) is conducted for admission to MBBS/BDS courses in (i) Mahatma Gandhi Dental College and Hospital, Pondicherry; and (ii) Vinayaka Mission Medical College, Karaikal.

Separate rules regulate admission to MBBS course in Jawaharlal Institute of Post-Graduate Medical Education and Research, Pondicherry.\

Application Procedure

Application form along with the information bulletin can be obtained from the notified branches of Canara Bank in Pondicherry on cash payment of Rs. 250 (Rs. 50 for SC/ST candidates).

Application form can also be obtained by post by sending a self-addressed and stamped (Rs. 15) envelope of size 25*18 cm along with a crossed demand draft of Rs. 250 in favour of the "Convener, CENTAC" payable at Pondicherry. Completed applications should reach the Convener, CENTAC, Pondicherry Engineering College, Pondicherry 605014 by the notified date

Eligibility
I. Eligibility:A pass in Higher Secondary (Academic / Vocational) or equivalent examination with minimum marks as indicated against each course.

B.Tech. : Mathematics and Physics as compulsory subjects along with one of the following optional subjects : Chemistry / Bio-Technology / Computer Science / Biology (Botany & Zoology) with 45% marks in aggregate (a mere pass for SC / ST candidates) (as prescribed by Pondicherry University vide letter No. PU/Acs-7/BOS-Minutes// Dt. 28.02.2010) in compulsory and optional subjects put together. (for Vocational Stream - Vocational Subjects and a Related Subject – Mathematics / Physics / Chemistry). However, the Pondicherry University has been approached to adopt the AICTE norms for minimum eligibility marks.

B.D.S : English, Biology / Botany & Zoology, Physics, and Chemistry with 50% marks in aggregate (40% for SC candidates)

B.V.Sc.& A.H: Biology / Botany & Zoology, Physics, and Chemistry with 50% marks in aggregate (40% for SC candidates)

B.Pharm:Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects along with one of the following optional subjects : - Mathematics / Bio-Technology / Computer Science / Biology (Botany & Zoology) [for Vocational Stream - Physics, Foundation Science and Medical Laboratory Assistant Course or Chemistry, Foundation Science and Nursing Course] and they should have studied English as one of the subjects and 50% marks in aggregate (mere pass for SC / ST candidates).

B.Sc.(Nursing) / B.P.T. / B.Sc.(MLT) : Biology / Botany & Zoology, Physics and Chemistry (for Vocational Stream - Physics, Foundation Science and Medical Laboratory Assistant Course OR Chemistry, Foundation Science and Nursing Course) with 50% marks in aggregate [40% for SC / ST / OBC (including MBC) candidates] and should have studied English as one of the subjects.

M.B.B.S.: English, Biology / Botany & Zoology, Physics and Chemistry with 50% marks in aggregate [40% for SC / OBC (including MBC) candidates]

B.Sc.(Agri.) : Biology / Botany & Zoology, Physics, and Chemistry with 50% marks in aggregate (a mere pass for SC candidates).

Age:
17-21 yrs on 31st December of the year of admission (17-24 yrs in case of SC/ST candidates).

Exam Pattern
The test is conducted at Pondicherry and consists of 80 objective type questions in Physics & Chemistry and 10 questions in Biology (Zoology & Botany). The result is notified in leading newspapers and displayed in the College.

Merit in JET and marks obtained in the qualifying exam; both of them are given equal weightage.

OTHER STAES / USs CANDIDATES:

Candidates from other States / UTs can seek admission only to B. Tech. degree course offered by Pondicherry Engineering College , B. Pharm., B.Sc. (Nursing), B.P.T. & B.Sc.(MLT) degree courses offered by Mother Theresa Institute of Health Sciences, Puducherry, and LL.B. degree course offered by Dr. Ambedakar Government Law College.
The candidates from other States/UTs seeking admission to B. Tech. Degree course offered by Pondicherry Engineering College shall apply with AIEEE marks. They need not appear in JET – 2010. They shall submit admission application for B.Tech course with AIEEE marks on or before June 2010. Those who are seeking admission to B.Pharm., B.Sc. (Nursing), B.P.T., B.Sc. (MLT) and LL.B. degree courses shall be required to appear in JET – 2010 conducted by CENTAC, Government of Puducherry.
NRI / NRI Sponsored Candidates / Foreign Nationals can seek admission to B.D.S. degree (5 seats) offered by Mahatma Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Dental Sciences. They have to appear in JET – 2010. For further details on admission, the candidates shall contact the Director of the college.
NRI / NRI Sponsored candidates / Foreign Nationals can seek admission to B.V. Sc. & A.H. (5 seats) offered by Rajiv Gandhi College of Veterinary & Animals Sciences, Puducherry. For admission, candidates shall contact the Dean of the College directly.
For LL.B Course 6 seats will be allotted to the Candidates without any reference to the nativity / residence.
